International students can now work more than 20 hours per week

Effective from From November 15, 2022, until December 31, 2023, international students who process a valid study permit with off-campus work authorization can now work more than 20 hours/week. This public policy also applies to those who have submitted a study permit application, given that their student permit application is approved.

Note that international students must maintain their full-time student status while they can commit to more off-campus work. Studying part-time or discontinuing study will affect international students' eligibility to work off-campus and potentially affect their eligibility to receive Post-Graduation Work Permit(PGWP) in the future.

Starting from this month, some applicants with less complex profile could see their extended study permit processed at a faster pace due to the introduction of a pilot project by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
